DU Admission 2018

Established in 1922, University of Delhi has emerged as one of the top institutions.It is among the top 50 universities in Asia.The University has 16 faculties, 77 colleges, 86 departments, currently. Every year lakhs of students enrol for admission to the University, and the number increases every year.There has always been an anxiousness about the university admissions among the aspirants.Therefore, it becomes important to stay notified about the updates in the admission process.

ELIGIBILITY

The University offers admissions for various courses at Under-Graduate, Post-Graduate, and PhD levels.The admission to the respective courses is either merit-based or entrance based.The applicants for the UG merit-based admission should have cleared the 10+2 examination from CBSE board or any other recognized institution. According to a new update, since most the students apply from CBSE,  the candidate’s 12th class score will automatically be added to the form, once he/she enters the examination roll number and other details.The minimum percentage required in the case merit-based admission of B.A/B.Com (Pass), B.Voc is 40 %, B.A/B.com (Honours) is 45% including mathematics marks. The percentage is calculated on the basis of the average of best of 4 subjects.However, admissions are granted based on the cutoffs lists released by the university.The entrance based exam of B.A(Honours) Multimedia / Mass Communication requires 75% marks for general category, including 85% marks in English.BMS/ B.A(Honours) Business Economics / BBA (FIA) require a minimum of 60% marks for general category. A five year Journalism course has been added as a new-course to the portal.

There are 56,000 total number of seats.There is no age limit for the various under-graduate courses offered by the University.

ADMISSION PROCESS

There are various steps involved in the admission procedure are as follows :

  1. It begins with the online registration by filling the form provided by the University, online.The candidate can opt for as many courses as desired for free.According to the new feature, the candidates can now apply for entrance based and merit-based courses through the same portal,i.e, by filling only one form. The applicants seeking admission in the Sports Category can now upload any of their three best certificates instead of one.

  2. Post the online registration, the various colleges release their cut-off lists.The cut-offs can be accessed via the University website or directly through the exam portal.Various cut-off lists are released for all the courses offered.

  3. Once the candidate meets the percentage desired by the cut-off, the college should be selected through the online form.

  4. Next, the applicant must approach the college with the desired documents/certificates along with the printed admission form.These documents include a self-attested photocopy of mark sheet, character certificate, 10th standard mark sheet etc. The documents are then verified by the respective college authorities.

  5. The college retains the original documents to block any further admissions. The college then approves the admission via UG portal.

  6. The final step includes payment of the admission fee which is done online.The applicant must print and preserve a copy of the payment receipt.

IMPORTANT GUIDELINES

  • Entrance based admissions is offered for courses including Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS), B.A(Hons) Business Economics, Bachelor of Business Administration, B.Tech( Information Technology and Mathematical Innovation), B.A(Hons) Humanities and Social Sciences, Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed), Bachelor of Science in Physical Education, Health Education and Sports [B.Sc ( P.E, H.E, and S.)], B.A(Hons) Multimedia and Mass Communication, respectively.

  • The application form will be available from the second week of May.

  • Scanned images of documents such as self-attested ID proof, self-attested copy of Caste Certificate (for particular cases), signature, passport size photographs, Self-attested copy of !0th standard passing certificate in prescribed format, are required to be attached with the online form.

  • Once filled and submitted, the online application form cannot be altered in any way.

  • The eligibility criterion of the Central University for Admissions 2018 is common for all the constituent colleges excluding St.Stephen College and Jesus and Mary College.
